NOBUO KUBOTA: Chant_documentary

Abstract expressionist musician, sculptor, sound poet, architect, videographer, zen buddhist, performance artist. Nobuo Kubota's creative riffs resonate through all boundaries. Waves of rhythmic motion pulse through Chant as filmmaker Linda Corbett captures the work of the Vancouver-born multidisciplinary artist and 2009 Governor General's Award recipient. The resulting video retrospective is a potent, playful, visual and sonic feast.

FAFARD: Field Horse / Cheval de trait_documentary

In June the retrospective exhibition JOE FAFARD which includes Linda Corbett's 20 minute documentary film FAFARD: Field Horse / Cheval de trait will open at The Winnipeg Art Gallery in Manitoba. The film celebrates the massive, 50-acre earthwork image of a field horse drawn by artist Joe Fafard, curated by Roy Hickling and executed by over 200 community volunteers and sponsors from the MacLaren Art Centre in 1996 - 1997.

The MacKenzie Art Gallery, and the National Gallery of Canada commissioned two versions of the documentary which brings permanent form to the fleeting eco-image of the horse. As part of a retrospective exhibition on the work of Joe Fafard curated by Terrence Heath this is the last stop on the two-year, cross-Canada tour of major public galleries.
